1月11日讯 据《米兰体育报》报道，莱切曾在1999年敲定了贝尔巴托夫，但最后时刻贝尔巴托夫选择加盟勒沃库森。

报道称，科尔维诺是一位非常优秀的体育总监，他以发掘优秀的年轻球员而著名。1999年11月的国家队比赛日，科尔维诺考察了贝尔巴托夫，并立刻说服莱切采取行动。

科尔维诺将贝尔巴托夫称为未来的现象级球员，并公开表示自己想立刻签下贝尔巴托夫。当时的贝尔巴托夫效力于索菲亚中央陆军，由于在保加利亚达到18岁需要服兵役，因此当时科尔维诺还无法签下贝尔巴托夫。

但是科尔维诺不在乎，他表示自己一定会签下贝尔巴托夫，同时他也知道转会市场中细节和时机的重要性，因此他开始尝试敲定交易。最终他成功了，并与索菲亚中央陆军敲定在18个月后签下贝尔巴托夫，双方还预敲定了一份4+1的合同（前4年薪资1.8亿里拉）。

但最终当科尔维诺和莱切预约好宾馆，等待完成体检时，贝尔巴托夫没有抵达。科尔维诺事后表示：“是因为贝尔巴托夫方面想要车，要公寓，并表示其他球队开出了更高的报价，而我拒绝了，然后他们就离开了。”

几天后，贝尔巴托夫加盟了勒沃库森，开始了他伟大的职业生涯。
